On April 13th 2008 Cyndy Bray (a Coons family descendant) went to the Elk
Grove California Masonic Cemetery Family Burial Plot for the Coons and Davis
family. Thanks to her trip we learned the name of George Washington’s
Coons family’s Maid who at this point I do believe was a slave her name
was Rachel Ward. I also learned that the gravestone I had thought was Rachel’s
was not that she had a much more expensive headstone. Which I believe shows
a obvious love from the family to Rachel regardless of her social standing.
I would love to find more information on Rachel. I have posted a photo
Album of Cyndy’s Photos with her permission and I hope you all enjoy
them.

I welcome stories and photos even videos if you have them. I hope that together this journey can be a experience for us and our family, a trip into the past and present. I hope you will keep coming back for more.
We only remember the things that we learn our selves. This journey has become an ragged one filled with long nights typing and searching and early mornings scanning and copying.
