The “Best” Holiday… Sugar Cookies
Easter (make bunnies and eggs)
Christmas (Angels galore)
New Years… Your choice
Danna Donovan

This recipe came from one of my son’s friends I believe she said it was from Germany.
I begged for it every year since she gave me the cookies for Easter one year as little bunnies and here it is to be Treasured.

These cookies are light with an amazing flavor
Not the usual overpowering “sugary” sensation of a sugar cookie

Make only “one” batch at time, it does not double well, but you may have to make several batches to satisfy the “cookie monsters” at your house.

Cookies
2 Cups Real butter (Nothing less will do for these cookies)
2 ½ Cups Sugar
1 ½ teaspoon Pure vanilla extract
1 ½ teaspoon Grated orange peel
3 Eggs
12 teaspoons Milk
6 Cups Sifted flour
4 ½ teaspoons Baking powder
¾ teaspoons Salt

Cream all the moist ingredients together and then slowly add the dry ingredients

* Very Important * The dough Must Chill in the refrigerator no less then One Hour before baking*

Roll out onto a floured surface and use cookie cutters of your favorite holiday shapes. Carefully place on cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 till slightly, very slightly brown, just barley.. you do not want the cookies colored.

The allow to cool, Once cooled prepare the frosting below and color each batch.
When the cookies are completely cool, then frost the cookies very thinly to keep the flavor of the cookie the primary excitement. And decorate with your fanciest sprinkles and sparkles.

Frosting

½ teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
1 box 10x sifted Powdered Sugar
and Milk to thin

Put cookies on a rack.. Thin frosting till you are able to pour over each cookie.. decorate and let set.
