Danna’s Date Cookies ~ 1983

These were from Grandma Mary Doty’s Christmas Cookies

I loved them as a child.

2 cups chopped dates

(or) ground raisins

(or) ½ jar mincemeat

½ cup sugar

½ cup water

Combine the ½ cup sugar and the ½ cup water in a sauce pan till thick.

1 cup sugar

1 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

3 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

4 tsp flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon (or) pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp nutmeg

1 ½ cups nuts

Cream butter, sugar and spices dates and nuts

Bake dropfull at 375 degrees for 12 -15 min
